What is a Developing Nation?
The World Bank lists countries based on ‘need’ or how much people earn. In New Village, we refer to countries as Developed or Developing to simplify the identification process. Our goal is to match a school in a more affluent culture with a school in an area of poverty so that students can learn about those who are not like them. Wealth and poverty are key factors in determining lifestyle and daily challenges. We also want students to learn about different cultures, so in countries where there are both wealthy and poor areas, such as India, we would want to match an affluent school in India with a school in a poor area of another part of the world, like Central America, for example.

Which types of schools are available to develop a New Village friendship with?
Worldwide Christian Schools carefully selects schools from its partners all over the globe, primarily in Developing Nations. Schools that are considered ideal for the New Village program:
have demonstrated financial accountability by being approved members of the WWCS School Sponsorship program
understand the importance of consistent communication with their friend school
are committed to the program goals for a long term relationship
What are the basic requirements for New Village school participants?
Your friend school will have at least one computer with internet access. Or as an initial fund-raiser, your school may host a coin collection event to provide funds for a small computer lab and a year’s worth of internet access for your friend school.
The students at the school will able to communicate in English or have at least two dedicated staff members who have the time and willingness to translate correspondence into English.
Your friend school will be an approved partner school of Worldwide Christian Schools and part of the WWCS School Sponsorship program. New Village partner schools receive annual visits from WWCS staff and must comply with financial and educational reporting.
or, if you have a strong spanish-speaking school community, you may partner with a spanish-speaking school in Central America
